Kubra Khademi. La fille et le dragon

Illustrated Reading
With Kubra Khademi (visual artist), Nicole Lapierre (author), and Esmatullah Alizadah (singer and musician)
In 2024, Hazara feminist artist Kubra Khademi publishes her first graphic novel, The Girl and the Dragon, entrusting its narrative to French anthropologist and sociologist Nicole Lapierre. Adapted into a live performance format, the two authors present an illustrated reading of the book. Esmatullah Alizadah—musician and graduate of the Kabul University of Fine Arts, and player of the dambora, a traditional plucked string instrument from Central Asia—accompanies the reading with live music.
The Girl and the Dragon is born from a precious encounter between the personal and artistic story of Kubra Khademi and the poetic sensibility of Nicole Lapierre’s writing. The result is an extraordinary testimony to the invincibility of art—an ode to women, to life, and to freedom.
The book is available in the Château-Musée gift shop, and a book signing will conclude the evening.
